A guitar match "Made In Heaven"!
Thomas and Ben have known each other since the late 1990s when they first crossed paths at the Frankfurt Music Fair. Since then, they have occasionally played music together, which led to Thomas appearing as a guest on Ben's solo album "Melodic Relief" (2012). In 2019, both were invited to go on tour as part of Martin Engelien's GO MUSIC. This tour turned out to be a great success. Now there’s more! “It was one of my highlights of this year for me, great guys, no egos, and fantastic playing! The focus was always on jamming around a good song instead of just jamming for the sake of solos,” says Ben.
Ben's history of playing and touring around the world is very long, first with Gringos Locos, later with Leningrad Cowboys and Wishbone Ash. So far, Ben has released 19 solo albums and tours regularly throughout Europe. “Playing with Ben is a lot of fun because our guitars can melt in harmony, and we have great musical conversations,” says Thomas Blug, the “Stratking of Europe,” who is very busy with his company Bluguitar, which designs guitar amplifiers and conducts guitar/amp clinics. But he always finds time to play guitar as an artist, whether with his Blug Plays Hendrix Band or his power trio Rockanarchie. “GO MUSIC is the project that I have been leading since 1996 as a monthly tour event, with a different band every month and different songs each time. Playing on stage with both Ben AND Thomas was THE highlight! I can’t wait to be on stage with them again,” says Martin Engelien, bassist, producer, and mastermind behind the Go Music concerts, who needs no introduction in the German music scene, as hardly any professional works as hard as he does. Klaus Lage, Albert Mangelsdorff, Toto Blanke, Jasper Van't Hof, Charlie Mariano, or T.M. Stevens are just a few of the many artists he has played and produced with in the past. Thomas, Ben, and Martin are joined by Tommy Fischer on drums. Tommy is known as a super solid musical drummer. Miller Anderson, Guildo Horn, or Andrew "The Bullet" Lauer are some of the many artists Tommy collaborates with.
