“In our holiday programs, children can be creative with simple materials while also getting to know historical craft techniques and everyday objects. It is important to us that the children can try things out for themselves and create something of their own,” says Daniel Manner, scientific advisor for events and press at the LVR Open-Air Museum Kommern.
The kick-off is on Sunday, October 18, with the construction of a tin can telephone. From 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., children can try out how a special means of communication is created from simple materials in the Nissen hut.

On Tuesday, October 20, keychains made of shrink film will be created in the Henkelhaus from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Also on Tuesday, October 20, and Thursday, October 22, children can braid macramé keychains in the bungalow from Kahlenbusch from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

There will also be creative activities in the second week of the holidays.
On Tuesday, October 27, keychains made of shrink film will again be created in the Henkelhaus.
On Thursday, October 29, children can make lucky dolls in the house made of pipes from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
In the house from Elsig, wire coasters will also be made from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

No registration is required for the holiday programs.

Children and young people under 18 years old have free admission to the museum.

The holiday program is part of the diverse offerings of the LVR Open-Air Museum Kommern, which makes history and everyday culture experienceable on its extensive grounds.
