Zukunft im Wald gestalten

Stolberg

The forest is changing – and with it our responsibility.

Dry periods, mild winters, and heavy rainfall are putting many stocks under strain. Monocultures are quickly reaching their limits. Therefore, forest conversion focuses on diversity: on mixed forests with different root depths, crown shapes, and strategies.

Along the way, this change can be easily observed. New planting areas are emerging, protected by fences, and even robust "rarities" like Sorbus domestica or Service tree are returning. They bring stability without displacing native species and simultaneously create new habitats.
Adaptation takes time, as trees think in decades. What is planted and cared for today shapes the forest of tomorrow. Diversity is not only a goal but the best protection for the future.

What if...: Imagine what this forest will look like in 30 years – which trees will be larger, which may have disappeared entirely. Forest conversion is a process that can be observed here step by step.
