Ich bin die Johanneskapelle

Stolberg

I may not stand in the middle of the village – but I am reliably here, overlooking what comes and goes.

They call me Johannes Chapel, and I have been here for over 300 years. In the past, chapels were often the most important building in a village and were therefore located in the center. My situation is different: I stand rather on the edge, and that is exactly what makes me a quiet place to pause.

Nevertheless, over the years I have seen much come and go: sunny afternoons, small festivals, or people seeking a moment of peace. That is why my stones also bear the marks of time. Those who look closely will notice: Even a small building can carry a lot of history within itself, without telling it loudly.

Become a historical detective: Walk around me and look for a detail that seems "old" to you – a stone, a pattern, an edge, a trace on the material. What might it reveal about the past?
