Immerse yourself in the history of pharmacy at the Schwanen Pharmacy Museum in Bad Münstereifel. From 1806 to 1994, the Bresgen family of pharmacists ran a pharmacy in the historic Schwanen Pharmacy. Today, you can explore its traditional rooms and the furnishings, which have remained virtually unchanged.

The museum includes the historic dispensing room, a laboratory with 19th-century equipment, and the storeroom, where the pharmacy’s supplies were once kept. The “Scent Trail” is particularly fascinating: On the drawers, you’ll find information about various medicinal plants and can smell the respective scents for yourself.

In the Stephinsky Room, you can learn more about Franz Maria Ferdinand Stephinsky, a pharmacist, preservationist, and honorary citizen of the city. He also became famous for the “Stephinsky” stomach bitter, which he invented in 1859 in what is now the museum pharmacy. You can also purchase a bottle of the stomach bitter on site.
