Curtain Up for Jaques Berndorf—Reflections on the 100th Anniversary of His Birth
Authors: Ralf Kramp, Manni Lang
This year, Jacques Berndorf would have turned 90. While many assume that crimes inevitably take place in big cities—because only there are the depths of depravity and life is corrupt—Berndorf knew long ago that the Eifel region is the best place to commit murder. In 1989, Michael Preute published his first crime novel, *Eifel-Blues*, under this pseudonym. Twenty-two more followed, long before regional crime fiction was recognized as a genre in its own right. The main character is always the journalist Siggi Baumeister.
The life of his publisher, Ralf Kramp, has also had a lasting influence on Jacques Berndorf. Look forward to a literary and very personal retrospective as Ralf talks about his friend “Michel.” Joining him on this special evening will be author and entertainer Manni Lang. And when the curtain rises in the cozy movie theater with its 42 red armchairs, one thing will quickly become clear: You don’t need a big city for great stories!
