Lit.Eifel: "Abend der Poesie"
Oct 22, 2026
Nettersheim
More than seven decades ago, the literary magazine AKZENTE was founded. Since its inception, AKZENTE has published authors such as Ingeborg Bachmann, Hilde Domin, Günter Grass, and Peter Handke, all literary giants who still belong to the premier league of German-language literature. Time and again, this magazine has also provided ample space for young voices, thus laying the groundwork for their future literary careers. In this way, AKZENTE has long become a unique literary cultural asset in the German-speaking world – a cultural asset that has now, since the end of 2024, found a new home in the catchment area of Lit.Eifel: the Dittrich Verlag, based in Weilerswist, has taken on the great task of continuing the extraordinary legacy of the magazine that was previously published by Hanser in Munich. Edited by Marietta Thien, the publisher of Dittrich, four issues have now been released, featuring authors such as Marion Poschmann, Ingrid Bachér, Kaleb Erdmann, Joachim Sartorius, and many others. The response to these new issues has been remarkable.
On this evening at the Alten Kloster Nettersheim, a colorful spectrum of poetry and prose from the latest issues will be presented. Several authors from these issues will read, and there will also be a conversation with Marietta Thien about the history and future of this magazine: an evening that will bring the audience as close to the "heartbeat of literature" as is rarely possible.
