In his new novel, author Frank Goosen tells with wit, heart, and a lot of insider knowledge about a rebellious youth football team from Bochum, an eventful season in the district league, and three men who learn more from eleven teenagers than they ever thought possible.

Forester has nothing to do with football. That’s why he is initially skeptical when his friend Fränge takes over the youth team’s training and asks him to help. In the end, he goes for it because it’s also about mending Fränge’s relationship with his son Alex, who is part of the team. Active pedagogical support comes from teacher Brocki, who soon joins them on the field twice a week.
They realize that they have underestimated the task: The pubescent boys are running rings around them. And then there are opinionated player parents, dubious rival coaches, and referees with blinders on. However, on the pitch and in the locker room, a community gradually comes together, where it’s about much more than just the decision on promotion or relegation.

Author Frank Goosen was fascinated by football from the age of eight during his first visit to a stadium and was a youth coach for four years at a small club in Bochum. With "Play On!", he has finally written the football novel that so many have long awaited.
