Kulturtage in Roetgen: Miss Merkel - Mord in der Uckermark
Mar 22, 2026
Roetgen
The Chancellor has been retired for six weeks and has moved to Uckermark with her husband (and pug!). However, after the turbulent life in Berlin, she finds it hard to adapt to the quiet countryside life. Just baking and hiking quickly becomes monotonous. But when Baron Philipp von Baugenwitz is found poisoned in a locked castle dungeon, new life awakens in Angela. Supported by her loving husband and gentle bodyguard Mike, she sets out on a dangerous search for the murderer.
The first two bestsellers in the series “Miss Merkel – Murder in the Uckermark” by David Safier, “Murder in the Cemetery” and “Murder at Sea,” have already been filmed. In the leading role of these wonderfully quirky crime stories is Katharina Thalbach, who takes on the character of the former Chancellor in a deeply engaging and outrageously funny way. Now she returns to the book and reads the best scenes from Safier's first "Miss Merkel" volume.
Katharina Thalbach made her breakthrough at the theater at the age of 15 with the role of Polly in The Threepenny Opera at the Berliner Ensemble. Countless theater roles followed. Since the late 1980s, Thalbach has also been active as a director in theater. She regularly appears in cinema and television films and has received numerous awards. In 2025, she starred at the Komödie am Kurfürstendamm alongside her daughter and granddaughter in “Murder on the Orient Express,” for which she also directed.
