On hot summer days, the forest shows its true superpower, as it not only provides shade but also cools the air through evaporation. This way, you can enjoy this hike even on hot days. In Heimbach, we initially walk along the cooling Rur for a bit. Under the shady crowns of oaks and beeches, we first hike steeply upwards on a trail. During this, we cross a small mountain stream. The moment when a hiking trail becomes a narrow forest path is magical - one feels like standing in a hall of trees. As soon as we reach the top, we will have a fantastic view of the beautiful landscape of the Eifel. We continue under the leafy canopy of mighty beeches, which provide us with pleasant shade for quite a while. Sometimes, young beeches also form an avenue by the wayside.
