Kall-Urft
Photography is once again permitted in the Urft nuclear bunker, the former temporary headquarters of the NRW state government. Built and furnished in the 1960s, the bunker offers many interesting motifs. Whether it's the old communication and radio technology, the still existing electricity and water supply, the simple workrooms and cramped sleeping quarters or the old radio studio, everything and much more invites you to take photos.
If you don't want to photograph entire rooms, you'll find lots of interesting little things: old telephones with and without dials, typewriters, telex machines and even an old fax machine. There are also radiation measuring devices, cabinets full of breathing masks, old razors and toothbrushes, light switches and sockets made of Bakelite, and an old, well-equipped locksmith's workshop. Even a supply of toilet paper, still in its original packaging from 1968, can be found and photographed in the bunker, and there is much more here too. Many rooms that are not visited during the normal tour are open and can be viewed. If you want, you can even crawl into the (crawl) cellar of the bunker and into the most remote corners. But even without this effort, there is plenty that is worth photographing. Catering is provided.
