Axe Stiftung KronenburgThe Dr. Axe Foundation promotes art and culture by maintaining its art gallery on the Hasenberghof in Kronenburg (Eifel). The donor himself chose the extraordinary domicile of the paintings. The foundation buys paintings by artists from the Düsseldorf School of Painting and publishes them in scientifically developed exhibition catalogs. The exhibitions are shown in the art cabinet and are temporarily loaned to selected cultural institutions and museums. Because the collection should not only work scientifically, but also convey art enjoyment at a high level to a broad audience.
Erlebnisraum Römerstraße - Infozentrum Naturzentrum EifelThe joint project "VIA Erlebnisraum Römerstraße | Agrippastraße - Via Belgica" makes it possible to "experience" the former Roman state roads in the Rhineland again on a cycling and hiking route. Exposures and reconstructions make the road construction art of the Romans visible and tangible.
Swister TurmThe Swister Tower near Weilerswist is a remnant of the old parish and pilgrimage church of the vanished village of Swist on the Swisterberg (built c. 1100-1125). Foundation remains of the nave are attributed to the 9th century. Archaeological finds from Roman times indicate that the first Christian church was built over a Roman sanctuary. The St. James pilgrimage route passes directly by the tower.
Burg ReifferscheidClose to the border between the Eifel and the Ardennes in the municipality of Hellenthal is Reifferscheid Castle, first mentioned in 1106, a medieval hilltop castle typical of the Eifel. The current system of castle ruins, outer bailey and fortified castle settlement reflects the change in this former mansion.
