Ehemaliger Bunker der Landeszentralbank NRW

Mechernich

The bunker of the Landeszentralbank in Mechernich-Satzvey was planned during the Cold War under a high degree of secrecy and built from 1966 to 1969 under the central school that was later built above it. The nuclear protection bunker was intended to house the top of the Düsseldorf State Central Bank in the "V-case" - the defence case - and to ensure its "functionality". Occupancy and exercises took place in the facility until 1989, and the bunker was abandoned in 1990. Since May 2012, the facility has been open to the public on guided tours.

Axe Stiftung Kronenburg

The Dr. Axe Foundation promotes art and culture by maintaining its art gallery on the Hasenberghof in Kronenburg (Eifel). The donor himself chose the extraordinary domicile of the paintings. The foundation buys paintings by artists from the Düsseldorf School of Painting and publishes them in scientifically developed exhibition catalogs. The exhibitions are shown in the art cabinet and are temporarily loaned to selected cultural institutions and museums. Because the collection should not only work scientifically, but also convey art enjoyment at a high level to a broad audience.
