Blankenheim is located on the Cologne-Trier Roman Way, on the Way of St. James and is the starting or intermediate point for the Ahr and Eifelsteig trails. Pilgrims and hikers have always gratefully used the herbal treasures to heal blistered feet or colds. They knew nutritious wild herbs to strengthen them on long hikes.
