Our hike begins at the hiking parking lot near Benenberg. After just a few minutes, we reach one of the highlights of our hiking tour. Seemingly endless meadows dotted with colorful wildflowers draw us into the charm of this unique landscape. From wet meadow sections with yellow marsh marigolds to dry grasslands with arnica and rare orchids, there is much to discover on this hike.  From the Krekeler Heights, there are also impressive panoramic views of the Eifel landscape, consisting of the typically gentle hills, forests, and meadows. We then hike down into the valley and soon have a panoramic view of the medieval castle Reifferscheid and the parish church of St. Matthias. Our path now leads us up to Wildenburg over challenging hiking trails. The small village around Wildenburg, with its well-preserved half-timbered houses, has a special charm. After a short break, we continue hiking through an enchanted forest up to the Krekeler Heights. Here, our hike ends today, accompanied by breathtaking views and unforgettable impressions.

We hike along forest and meadow paths but also over root-covered hiking trails. There are some ascents, some of which are quite steep and require appropriate fitness.

Participation in the hike is free of charge. However, the hiking guide Guido Hendle requests registration by June 20, 2026, at 6 p.m.

Pack your own food with enough drinks (min. 1 liter)

Guests are warmly welcome! We also gladly welcome families. Children should have enough stamina for a 4-hour hike.
