Rureifeltour: Alt Breinig - Die Perle des Münsterländchens

Stolberg-Breinig
The guided tour in the district of Breinig is always very popular. The tour guide accompanies you on a walk through the historical town center of Alt Breinig. The buildings in the historically protected street section "Alt Breinig" are predominantly built with local rubble and blue stone from the nearby, now decommissioned quarry "Schomet." This clearly demonstrates how the local sources of building materials have shaped this street section and continue to shape it to this day. The parish church of St. Barbara was built in the 19th century in neo-Gothic style according to plans by Johann Peter Cremer. Noteworthy buildings also include the old manor farms, such as Gut Stockem, as well as the many historical jewels and courtyards. Even the original type of the Aachen farmhouse is represented in the ensemble. The walk through Alt Breinig also highlights the original connections to the "Münsterländchen," which are no longer discernible today.
