If you look up "Pipifax" in the dictionary, it means "foolish stuff and nonsense". This is exactly what Erwin Grosche has been doing on stage for 50 years, hiding touching philosophical thoughts and serious insights in all the nonsense.
And then he often has a little song on his lips while accompanying himself with a blue children's accordion or piano. Sometimes it's about something coming up, sometimes he sings an ode to the poppy seed cake that drives him to strange thoughts. And as if that wasn't enough, he also plays the accordion with his double chin! It doesn't really get any better than that. Unless a miracle happens: the miraculously resurrected garden lawn rubbish bag. There is a feeling for language and wit, a talent for lovingly portraying people's weaknesses and making the audience laugh without making others look ridiculous.
Where colleagues let loose two-dimensional corny jokes, Grosche has a third, a fourth, a fifth dimension. Wonderful miniatures that inspire at first glance and then reveal something new on closer inspection and listening.
And that's the point: in the future, there may be artificial intelligences that far outshine the human brain. But there will never be an AI that can replace an artist like Erwin Grosche. "I am not a robot" was the title of one piece. What a stroke of luck. This is humor in the fifth dimension.
And he has certainly not received 30 prizes and awards without good reason.
