Online Vortrag: Der Gartenschläfer - der unbekannte Bilch mit der Zorro-Maske
Feb 19, 2026
The dormouse is well known, the hazel dormouse is still recognized by some, but the third member of the sleeping mice is hardly known to anyone. Although Germany has a special responsibility for the conservation of the garden dormouse, there has been hardly any current data on the distribution of the animals. Furthermore, it is clear that the garden dormouse has not been spotted in many areas over the last 30 years. In this online lecture, you will learn more about the lifestyle of the small dormouse with the Zorro mask and the dangers it faces. Find out from biologist Dr. Christine Thiel-Bender, project coordinator at BUND Landesverband NRW, how and where the wild animal of the year 2023 lives and what we can all do for its survival. Afterwards, all participants are warmly invited to pose their questions and suggestions during the discussion round.
The online offering is organized and funded through the joint LEADER projects "Future Villages" of the regions Eifel, Zülpicher Börde, and in the Rhineland area around Inde and Rur of the Biological Stations of the districts of Düren, Euskirchen, and Bonn/Rhein-Erft, and is therefore free for all participants.
