Flachstag im Handwebmuseum
Aug 20, 2025
Bad Münstereifel-Rupperath
In a demonstration, textile designer Christiane Seufferlein shows how the flax plant is turned into yarn - from rippling to spinning. Visitors can experience all the steps of traditional processing.
Her lecture "Berta's flax" follows at 7 pm. The starting point was an old chest containing 80 kilograms of flax - once Berta's dowry. The result was a moving project about the history of flax cultivation and processing in the Austrian Mühlviertel and the people behind it. Today, an association is committed to preserving and passing on this knowledge.
