Markgräfliche Hofmusik - Italienische Barockmusik
Sep 5, 2026
Kall-Steinfeld
The monastery as a place of freedom, the nun as a self-determined woman. This unusual perspective is chosen by the program, showcasing a little-known and historically underrated group of female composers. Women who, at the transition between the Renaissance and Baroque, removed their veils in order to create their art freely. The compositions that emerged are by no means solely of a religious nature; there are also secular madrigals full of emotion and love. Works by more well-known composers such as Isabella Leonarda will be played, as well as those by less familiar women like Maria Xaveria Peruchona.
