Konzert: "The R&B Express"
Sep 20, 2025
Dahlem-Schmidtheim
"Awesome! Guys, really cool, you really had fun on stage..." We'll take this original comment from a concertgoer as a compliment. Perhaps we would have put it differently ourselves. But even if this is a pretty good way of getting to the heart of the matter, we'll still try to describe what we're all about here:
Rhythm and Blues is our thing! And - we can hardly believe it ourselves - we've been doing it for over 30 years. When you've been on the world's stages for as long as the RnB Express, you can live with a little "old school".
Imagine our music as a train ride through 50 years of music history. The RnB Express takes something from every stop on this journey: A little soul here, a good dose of rock there, some funk, pop, a little jazz and - of course - blues. Once on the road, all these influences blend into a completely unique mixture in a sound that is typical of the band. The unmistakable blend of "Doc" Prünte's Hammond, Kiki Schumacher's saxophone and the sound of Alex Kelz with his Telecaster can certainly be described as oldschool. But the whole thing - driven by the powerful rhythm section with Micha Beyer on bass and Chicco Moore on drums - sounds overwhelmingly modern again. The perfect stage for front woman Linda Meißner, who adds the proverbial "icing on the cake" to the band with her magnificent voice and unmistakable vocals.
The program includes well-known and lesser-known songs from a wide variety of musical genres and eras: Groovy, danceable, sometimes smoky bluesy and always in that special band-typical sound garb.
Depending on the location, a ride on the RnB Express takes between 1 and 3 hours, is usually quite sweaty, ends too quickly for most passengers and results in (and here we quote again): "Awesome! Guys, really cool..."
