During the summer vacation of 1958, hotshot Danny meets shy Sandy. The two spend a romantic time together - until school starts again. Danny then realizes that wallflower Sandy is in his class, but has to give her the cold shoulder so as not to jeopardize his reputation as the coolest dude in his rock gang.
Sandy punishes him with contempt, which is why he tries to get back together at rock'n'roll parties.
