40 Jahre EU-Semble und Freunde

Bad Münstereifel

The "EU-Semble" is an a cappella trio consisting of the singers Bruno Schreiner (tenor), Mupp Schloeßer (bass) and Robert Kunze (baritone).
They delight their audience with sensitive arrangements and impressive versatility. The three interpret well-known and almost forgotten pop songs as well as their own compositions, and they also entertain with humorous lyrics. For example, they self-deprecatingly combine a Deep Purple hit with Heinz Erhardt lyrics or integrate a wittily choreographed yodel.
The "EU-Semble" shows: Good entertainment doesn't need instruments.
The group "Cliffs of Dooneen", a folk band formed by four music-loving friends from the Euskirchen area, impressively proves that good entertainment is also possible WITH instruments.
All of them have been making music together in various formations for over 40 years, and "Cliffs of Dooneen" has developed into a band that captivates audiences wherever it performs.
The four are: Robert "Mupp" Schloeßer (vocals, percussion), Robert "Qnta" Kunze (accordion, vocals), Hermann-Josef "Sonny" Kreutz (mandolin, ukulele, vocals) and Wolfgang "Fö" Förster (guitar, bouzouki, vocals).
Their signature song, the eponymous "Cliffs of Dooneen", was the reason for the band's formation. This song and many others, which had a decisive influence on the Irish folk scene in the 1970s and 1980s, can be heard alongside songs from England, Scotland, America and Germany.
The geographical origin of the songs is as varied as their age: from "Es geht ein dunkle Wolk herein" from the 16th century to "Man of Constant Sorrow" by Dick Burnett in 1913 and "Solsbury Hill" by Peter Gabriel in 1977. The "Cliffs" put their own unmistakable stamp on each of these songs. The interplay between guitar, mandolin and accordion is just as delicate and impressive as the three-part vocals, which are sometimes reminiscent of Crosby, Stills & Nash.
A band that is really worth listening to!
