The exhibition revolves around encounters. The approximately 130 works explore the fleeting moments of coming together, which in no way limit themselves to classic symbolic pairs. Sometimes there are touching representations that tell of longing and love, while at other times there are random similarities that bring a smile to viewers' faces. Martin Parr humorously shows in his series "Bored Couples" that couples do not always engage in loving exchanges. Similarly, Richard Kalvar humorously highlights couple constellations that life creates. Here, politicians meet in hilariously awkward situations. But the streets of New York City also offer enough bizarre scenes that create entirely new connections. Elliott Erwitt masterfully captured situations with his camera – or as he himself said, "Sometimes a glance is enough to tell a whole life story." Throughout the tour, some famous couples can be discovered, such as Salvador Dalí and Gala, whose intense relationship was also characterized by an extraordinary artistic imagination. Marilyn Monroe and Clark Gable formed a particularly tragic connection on the film set of "The Misfits," as the shoot would be the last for both. Other figures and couples only find each other through the composition of the image, for example, through similar gestures. Similarities in clothing or hairstyles also play a significant role. In addition to human encounters, the exhibition also presents animal pairs as well as still lifes where objects form surprising relationships with each other.
