Ausstellung: "André Marie-Jean Paquet - Malerei und Zeichnung"
Oct 4, 2026 - Nov 8, 2026
Nettersheim
There are two passions that play a formative role in the life of the East Belgian painter André Marie-Jean Paquet, born in 1949 in the rural Sankt Vith. The sea and painting. After 12 years, he concludes a career that began in 1966 as an officer and engineer in the Belgian merchant navy. He returns to his familiar homeland with a wealth of experiences, sketches, and first paintings, to stay there as a teacher and a freelance artist. In the beginning, he paints villages, the East Belgian landscape, and primarily ships, coasts, boats, and the sea. Over the years, the boundaries between figurative and non-figurative worlds increasingly blur in his paintings, leading up to pure abstraction, with the color gray becoming ever more dominant. Yet the maritime background is always palpable. In 1993, he receives the Kaiser-Lothar Prize from the European Association of Visual Artists (EVBK), and his paintings are exhibited in many galleries and museums. Sketchbooks from the artist's travels are also on display.
