Archäologietour Nordeifel 2026: Geheimnisvolle Befestigung
Oct 4, 2026
Euskirchen-Flamersheim
When studying the map, you come across the entry "Old Castle" in the Flamersheim Forest along the Speckelsteiner Alley. If you think of a medieval castle ruin, you are mistaken. It is a so-called burgus, a tower-like small fortification from late antiquity, which was part of a Roman settlement. Particularly remarkable: Here in the forest, the small, rectangular structure of earthworks and ditches is clearly visible in relief!
Program: Tours of the Roman burgus – archaeologists explain the site. The burgus in a 3D model. Archaeological sites in the
forest and their threats.
Catering: sandwiches and sheet cakes from the bakery & kiosk at the leisure park
Please note: uneven terrain, sturdy footwear required. Limited parking is marked on site.
Time: 10.00 a.m. - 6.00 p.m.
Cost: free
