Before the invention of modern refrigeration technology in the 19th century, the storage of natural ice in ice cellars was the only option to have ice available for cooling products or for manufacturing processes during the warmer season. The rock cellar of the Hendrichs brewery in Radberg in the southeast of the city is an impressive multi-part facility with a tumultuous history.
Program: Information about the rock cellar based on plans and archival material. Guided tours of the rock cellar. Bat protection in the rock cellar.
For children: Family tours at 11.00 a.m. and 2.00 p.m.
Catering: The Eifel Association offers vegetarian vegetable soup with bread and optionally sausage, as well as drinks and cake.
Please note: Parking directly at the rock cellar is not permitted. Please use public parking spaces (for a fee). The route in the cellar must be strictly observed. Entry is only allowed as part of tours.
