The water supply played a significant role in medieval monasteries. Unlike settlements of this time, water pipes were quite common in monasteries, including the Steinfeld Monastery. As early as 1960, archaeologists documented a bricked corridor near Kall-Wahlen, in which they recognized the old water line of the monastery. Modern methods are now set to clarify its exact course.
