19. "Salon bei Kramer" - "Das gibt's nur einmal ...?"
Sep 13, 2025
Euskirchen
The harmless love song from the technically ingenious early sound film "Der Kongress tanzt" from 1931 takes on a deeper meaning when you think: was the composer, the lyricist perhaps ostracized because he had a Jewish background, was homosexual or critical?
Hits such as "Mein kleiner grüner Kaktus", "Wo sind deine Haare, August" and "Wochenend' und Sonnenschein" are brought to life by our sextet with 2 violins, clarinet, accordion, tuba, piano and vocals.
These songs are a piece of history - from the morality censorship of the imperial era to the cheeky cabaret pieces of the Weimar Republic! Where is the cultural diversity of this time and the urge for freedom more cheerful than in these chansons, more daring than in the cheeky lyrics? Even if some of them seem politically incorrect today, we present them in their original form, and some are surprisingly modern.
In the present day, when contemporary witnesses are dying out, we bring back stories and people who have been forgotten and shed light on the social processes of the time. So that it becomes true:
This only happens once, it won't happen again!
