If you walk through the forests around Zweifall today, you may still discover old logging roads, traces of resin on the trees or the remains of forgotten charcoal pits. They are evidence of a time when the forest was still managed with muscle power and horses.
Charcoal burners, harvesters, lumberjacks and carters shaped everyday life around Zweifall. They worked with axe and horse, collected resin, transported logs and knew every slope and every tree. Their work was physically hard and required a lot of experience, strength and knowledge of nature.
And even though many of these professions have long since disappeared, old tracks, tools and traces in the terrain still bear witness to this time when people and the forest were closely connected.
